Sarutobi, as he was called, was the student of the First & Second Hokage and sensei to the 3 Legendary Sannins, Jiraiya, Orochimaru, and Tsunade. During the invasion of the Leaf, he saw the betrayal of his student Orochimaru. Due to his old age, Sarutobi could not defeated Orochimaru, but managed to to seal part of Orochimaru's soul, his hands, by using a forbidden jutsu. He soon died after sealing away Orochimaru's hand.
