During those 7 times at the Chunin Exam, he gathered information about the Leaf Village and powerful ninjas in the village, mostly for Orochimaru. At the beginning of the Chunin exam, he acts like a friendly person, being nice to the rookie Genins of the Leaf Village. In the second stage of the Chunin exam, he helped Naruto and his teammates finish the stage. Before the third stage preliminaries, Kabuto decided to quit the exam. During the fight with Tsunade, he was able to regenerate himself after being hit with Naruto's Rasengan. Kabuto and Orochimaru however fled the battle.
